Craft Crafty McCrafters
I've gotten to do a few crafty projects over the past few months (most spurred on by Super Saturday, but that's next post).
Here's a few finished products:
Valence...I'm mostly happy with it. If I'd actually splurge for a nicer curtain rod I'd probably like it better. I also debate whether or not to line it. But I dread taking it all the way off and putting it all the way back on one more time (there were some issues during the sewing that scarred me).
I am really happy with the colors. They match the couches well and I like the stripes.
The pillow is what I'm REALLY happy with. Same colors as the valence, but (obviously) a different pattern. Once I put them out, they basically blended with the couch which I think means they look like they belong! I never loved the black/zebra stripe pillows of the same size that the couches came with.
These frames used to be a gold-ish shiny color and had shiny pictures of kids playing in sand or something like that. My mom gave them to me thinking I could do something with them someday and voila! Ribbon holders. They match the bathroom nicely. And the carefully placed flowers hide where I broke a few pieces of the frame as I disassembled them to spray paint. Go Team.
The only problem with ribbon holders is that they get full fast and they always look a little crazy with all the combined shapes/sizes/colors (this messes with my Type A desires for symmetry and neatness!). But they work great.

The Zoo
We went to the zoo on Nov. 9 with playgroup. We had a small group that day (just 2 moms and 4 kids), but we had a great time. The weather was great--warm but not too hot!
I wanted Megan to have a friend, so I picked up our friend the "other Megan" on our way out--I'll admit I was a little nervous to take two 3 year olds and a 16 month old by myself, but it went great!

Little Sisters
Megan and her friends definitely love their preschool time. And while the cats are away, the mice will play--5 of the 6 kids in her class have little sisters at home. And when their Moms are teaching or helping, they get to hang out with their own friends!

Here are the little sisters on Nov. 3. These girls have very strong older sisters and (probably as a result) they are all easy going--they are so easy to watch!
Speaking of being "little", here are Brooke's 15 months stats from Nov. 4:
Weight=25 lbs, 2 oz, Height=31.75 inches (that means Megan's only got her by 4 lbs and 5 inches!)

The Big 3-1
That's right folks! Dan continues to be 5 years ahead of me birthday-wise which means as of October 27, he is now well into his thirties :).
We didn't do a big celebration this year, but I tried to do a few things to make the day special. I got up and made him breakfast (which I never do). It even went beyond pouring milk into his cereal--I made eggs!
Then he went to work all day like always.
When he got home, we went to the new HEB (hurray for HEB!) and he picked out some sushi. We had a delicious dinner of lemon-pepper shrimp and angel hair pasta, french bread, salad, and sushi.
I got quite a few pictures of the kids that day. And even the food. Just not the birthday boy. Sorry honey. I do love you though--even when I forget to take your picture :) I did get you on Megan's birthday, so that will have to suffice.
We did get a little date night that week to the temple thanks to our neighbors. And he got a cake on Sunday!

Three Years Old...
Megan's actual birthday FINALLY arrived! Sunday October 31, 2010 marked 3 years since she entered the world. We had waffles for breakfast and a fun family gathering after church to celebrate the three birthdays that week--Megan's, Dan's, and my nephew Zach's. We had white chocolate raspberry cake (Dan's request) and it was DE-LICIOUS.
Three year old stats: 29 lbs, 8 oz and 3 ft .5 inches tall(Wow, feet--not just inches)

Here's a little about Megan at this age:
Megan's New Year's Resolutions for 2010 included learning to dress herself, learning her colors, and learning to swim--check, check, and check! (*although next year, maybe we'll need to add "dress herself so she's presentable enough to take out of the house" because her fashion choices are quite interesting at times!)
At 3 years old, Megan loves to talk. And talk and talk and talk. Unless she doesn't know you very well at which point she is very, very quiet. She is still hesitant in new situations and with new people, but she warms up more quickly these days.
She finally is able to walk happily off to nursery each week and LOVES to sing. In church, she insists on holding her own hymnbook and sings loudly, whether she knows the words or not. At home, she often makes up songs when playing by herself. She knows many primary songs and Disney songs quite well and will sing those throughout the day too. Her favorite primary song is usually "Sunbeam" and her favorite Disney song is "Once Upon A Dream".
She ADORES her little sister and is starting to include Brooke in her pretend play. They look for each other all through the day and are so happy when they get to be together. Megan is always looking out for Brooke and loves to "take care" of her--however misguided those attempts may be :). They play really well and they fight really well, but most days they play more than they fight.
She loves being outside and especially swinging. She loves riding her trike up and down the house. She loves being read to and is beginning to "read" aloud to herself sometimes.
She is a great helper and does her "chores" of making her bed, putting away the clean silverware, and cleaning up the tub toys after bath with enthusiasm. She loves being praised by Mom and Dad and gets the cutest little satisfied smile when she does a good job at something and we recognize it.
She still naps most days for about an hour in the afternoons. She goes to bed around 7 pm and wakes up at 6 am on the dot. She enjoys knowing the routine of each day and refers to the days of the week by names like Church day (Sunday), grocery day (Monday), playgroup day (Tuesday), and preschool day (Wednesday).
She loves playing with friends and is getting better at sharing and taking turns. She still is quite opinionated and we've been working really hard as parents to help her understand and reign in her strong emotions. When she is well-rested, well-fed, and engaged in play, she is quite well behaved. It's when she's tired, hungry, or bored (or a combo of those) that things get rough for her. Some days are frustrating for all of us, but we are learning how to work with each other better.
She loves her grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins and gives the sweetest hugs to all of them. She is very loving with Dan and I and soaks up the rare moments of having our undivided attention.
She says her prayers without much help now and loves to bear her testimony at Family Night.
It is amazing to see how much she has learned and grown in the past three years. We are so thankful to Heavenly Father for letting us have her in our family! We love you Megan!

Toddler Walk and Trunk or Treat
Our little village in the neighborhood puts on a toddler walk for Halloween each year--we start at the entrance and work our way back to plates and plates of cookies. It's pretty cute. This year it was on Friday, October 29.
