Utah 2015--Part 2

On Tuesday Aug. 11, we got to start our day by visiting with Dan's Grandma.  Our kids call her Grandma Great.  Grandma was so happy to see us and enjoyed showing us around her new apartment.  She moved recently out of her home to an assisted living place and it was nice to see her settled in.  She had her crystal candy dish full of jelly beans, just like always, and the kids were happy to eat lots of them along with the cookies she pulled out of a cupboard.  We had such a nice time reintroducing our kids to her and enjoyed getting to catch up.  It was a great way to start the day!

We spent that afternoon getting a tour of Dan's sister Michelle's new house and letting the kids play.  We headed back to Dan's parents' for dinner and to await the arrival of his sister Ali and her family.  There was quite the thunderstorm that night--Jack is now terrified of thunder after he was outside for a really loud crack.  Ali and Ben came in for a quick hello after their flight got in and it was so fun to see them.

Wednesday was a busy day.  We headed out in the morning to see the sights of the Davis County fair with most of Dan's family.  We headed straight inside to see the "Princess Show".  They had about 10 girls dressed up as all the Disney princesses and each had a little speaking part and sang a song.  The little girls loved it in spite of the less than stellar singing talents of most of the princesses!  After the princesses we went to the elephant show.  It was HOT in the sun but we enjoyed seeing the 2 elephants go through their routine.  And last but not least we took in the tiger show.  They were my favorite part--it's just amazing to see wild animals like that up close.

At that point we were all hot and thirsty and done, so we headed home by way of 7-11.  Mmm, slurpeees.  When we got back, all the grandkids came over to play in some sprinkler toys and have a water balloon fight.  They had a blast.

I love pale, pale Jakey in between brown, brown Brooke and Megan.  Megan and Jake had so much fun playing together this trip.

Uncle Dan was popular since he took on the task of filling the water balloons.  And by the way, those things that let you fill 30 balloons at once are pure genius.

Ready to fight (even little Jack in the corner)...

Candy and Alyssa got along well too...
