Veins!

We've had a good week here.
Monday Mar  20--Dan had his first day of varicose vein treatment.  We dropped our kids with Ali and headed to the med center.  The doc let me stay to watch.  It was cool, they basically start an IV in the varicose vein and thread a thin wire into it and then check on ultrasound how far in it is and then they press a button and the wire heats to 120 celsius (250 F) and burns the vein closed.  They numb all around the vein with lidocaine to keep it from hurting.  So they did the vein on one thigh and the other calf on Monday.  I brought him home and he had the day off which was nice so I could pick up groceries during nap time and get my usual stuff done.

Tue Mar 21--Day 2 of vein stuff.  Basically the same thing but they switched and did the other vein on each leg.  Dan was off again. I went to the store at naptime and brought home work--all our garden stuff and fertilizer and ant killer, etc. I got the garden weeded and mixed in new soil and compost and got it planted!  Tomatoes, jalapenos, yellow bell peppers, sugar snap peas, and sunflowers.

Emily's new trick--balancing on the seat of her little giraffe scooter.

Keeping busy while I worked

Wed Mar 22--Dan worked from home and I took the kids to playgroup after mowing half the lawn.  It has been warm--low 80s and it was a nice shady park and lots of friends came.  I finished the lawn at naptime and got fertilizer down and killed about 5 ant piles and planted flowers around our tree in front and my pot by the front door.  I was sunburned and tired! Brooke and Candy had friends over in the afternoon while Megan was at A Days. Candy's friend Claire came.  The kids were out riding bikes and by the end of the playdate Claire was  zooming on a 2 wheeler which was a new skill--her mom was impressed by the power of peer pressure!

Thu Mar 23--I ran in the morning after a break for a week while my friend was out of town.  Dan was working from home but was pretty much getting around just fine.  He had a follow up appointment this day but could drive himself.

What happens when Daddy is working from home--little helpers check up on him

Fri Mar 24--Jack had playschool and I ran some errands with Emily.  Dan was working from home again.  I got the house all picked up and made sure the kids didn't make a big mess in the afternoon when we had cousins over to play before date night.  Dan and I went to the temple which was really nice and came home to watch some March Madness.  I picked Gonzaga to win it all and they are still in it, so I'm doing good :)

Sat Mar 25--I ran by myself in the morning which was nice but I didn't go til 8 so it was plenty warm by the time I finished!  Dan took Megan and Brooke to meet up with Dad and Shad and Chloe/Molly/Ellie to see the new Beauty and the Beast while I took Jack and Candy to birthday parties.  They got home and I took Megan for dinner and shopping before the Womens Broadcast.  I realized it was the last time in her whole life that it would be just her and I at that meeting--Brooke will join us in the fall and from there on out we'll keep adding!  So that was fun to get that one on one time with her.  She had fun shopping and picked an umbrella--she's wanted one all year to keep in her backpack and she was SO excited.  She's a great kid.

Selfie at dinner.  She chose a build your own pizza place and we ate on the patio

It's been a great Sunday, we had ward conference and got there early to sing prelude and did a musical number since it was ward conference.  Megan and Brooke (with senior primary) sang A Child's Prayer with us in the choir and it was pretty.  The theme was being rooted in Christ.  My class was tough today, my hardest kid was having a hard day but we got through. After church we had dinner at a ward member's house as part of a class I'm taking through the church on personal finance.  We are supposed to meet once a week as a class but it's been hard to align schedules so we're meeting once a month instead and doing the weekly meetings just at home with our spouses.  So that was fun, the kids played outside and we had our group discussion over dinner and dessert.  Today's topic was on building a budget.

Cuties after church...
